British Values at Drayton Park School

At Drayton Park School, British Values are at the heart of our school community and are woven throughout everyday life. We are committed to helping our children become respectful, responsible and active citizens who understand their role in modern Britain.

Through our curriculum, assemblies, pupil leadership opportunities and wider school experiences, children develop an understanding of the five fundamental British Values: democracy, the rule of law, individual liberty, mutual respect and tolerance of those with different faiths and beliefs. These values are not taught in isolation; they are embedded within our learning, relationships and school culture.

Children are encouraged to express their opinions, make informed choices, take responsibility for their actions and show kindness and respect towards others. They learn to celebrate diversity, challenge discrimination and appreciate the importance of fairness, equality and inclusion within our school and the wider community.

By promoting British Values, we prepare our pupils to become confident, compassionate and respectful members of society, ensuring they leave Drayton Park ready to make a positive contribution to the world around them.

What British Values looks like at Drayton Park

School Values

At Drayton Park Primary School our motto is ‘Every Child, Every Chance, Every Day’. This encapsulates our aims that all of our children will enjoy and value their education, achieve well and be well prepared for secondary education by the time they leave us at the end of Year 6.

The ability to read widely, think critically, and communicate effectively is essential. We know that an appreciation for lifelong learning and a love of reading is critical to a child’s education. For this reason our curriculum is literacy-based with strong links between the different subject areas. Feedback is effectively shared with the children so they know how well they are doing and what their next step might be. We aspire to have no child left behind. For this reason children’s work is regularly monitored and focused, small group interventions are used to support children to catch up quickly.

The academic standards that the children reach are very important to us and we are very proud of their achievement and progress. However, we also have high expectations that they will listen, show good manners, kindness and consideration to others in everything that they do in school.
